Functions
The Personal Information Protection Commission conducts duties on improving laws and regulations, establishing and implementing policies, systems and plans, investigating of rights violations, handling complaints, mediating disputes, exchanging and cooperating with international organizations and data protection authorities, conducting research, providing education, promoting laws and policies, supporting and disseminating technology development, and fostering professionals related to personal information protection (Article 7-8 of the Personal Information Protection Act).
Deliberation and Resolutions
The Personal Information Protection Commission conducts the Assessment of data breach incident factors (Article 8-2), the Master plan for Personal Information Protection (Article 9), the Implementation Plan (Article 10), the Limitation to out of purpose use and provision of Personal information (Article 18-2-5), the Privacy impact assessment (Article 33-3), the Imposition of administrative surcharges for the processing of pseudonymized information (Article 28-6, 34-2, 39-15), the Suggestions and recommendations for improvements (Article 61), the Corrective measures, etc. (Article 64), the Criminal complaint and recommendation for disciplinary action (Article 65), the Disclosure of results (Article 66) the Administrative fines (Article 75), and the Matters subject to deliberation and resolution by the Personal Information Protection Commission (Article 7-9).
