Global Privacy Assembly (글로벌 개인정보 감독기구 협의체)

  • GPA는 92개 국가 및 경제협의체의 140개 회원 기관이 참여하고 있는 글로벌 개인정보 감독기구협의체로 한국은 2002년부터 참여하고 있습니다(2019년 기준).
  • 1979년 독일 본에서 첫 번째 회의를 개최하여 ICDPPC(International Conference of Data Protection and Privacy Commissioners)라는 명칭으로 시작되었으며, 2020년 GPA로 명칭을 변경하였습니다. 매년 1회 정기 총회를 개최하여 다양한 협력 방안을 논의하고 있습니다.
  • GPA는 개인정보보호 관련 지식의 전파, 공유, 지원을 통해 각 국의 감독기구가 효과적으로 업무를 수행할 수 있도록 지원하며, 새로운 기술과 산업의 발전에 따른 개인정보보호 이슈 대응을 위해 다양한 역량 강화 활동을 수행하고 있습니다.
  • 개인정보 감독기구는 GPA 「자격위원회 기준, 규칙 및 인정의 원칙」에 규정한 자격 요건을 갖춘 경우 회원 기관으로 가입할 수 있으며, 한 국가에서 복수의 기관도 가입 가능합니다.
